Pair

Pair is a sculptural furniture piece commissioned for a wildflower field in Basingstoke.

Inspired by the curved shapes and segmented symmetries found in fruits and plants, its two halves playfully gives the impression of an organic form that has been opened or cut in two.

A pattern of holes and gaps in the surface of the sculpture provide openings where solitary bees, butterflies and moths can nest and lay their larvae. In this way the sculpture supports pollinators within the wildflower ecosystem.

Pair is a placemaking public commission that playfully creates an outdoor destination where members of the public can pause, take a seat and enjoy the natural environment.
